Today, I share with you an article about Lebanon’s Port of Beirut written by Jubran Akkari and published by the Iraq Petroleum magazine in 1959 ( Vol. 8, November-December 1959, No.9). All the details are in the recording above, and below I share photos of the port and Beirut along with their captions as published by the magazine that year.
Iraq Petroleum was the magazine of the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC), which had full control over Iraq’s national oil production during that period. It was a consortium comprising companies like BP, Exxon, Mobil, CFP, Shell, and Partex, and was eventually nationalized in 1972.
